What do I do if I am being bullied?

The first thing to do is to have a think about what has been happening to you. Ask yourself these questions:

Do I feel afraid and unhappy? (different from feeling cross or angry)

Has this been happening for a while? (not just today or yesterday)

Do I try to stay away from the person who is doing it? Do they come and find me? Who's following who? You can't really be being bullied by someone if you keep following them around.

Have I asked them to stop?

Are they picking on me? (Or have we just fallen out?)

If you can answer yes to most of the above questions, you may be being bullied.

Bullying might be:

Someone hurting me

Spreading rumours about me

Not letting me join in ever

Bullying is not:

ArguingFalling out

Not getting your own way

If you think you are really being bullied then you MUST talk to someone. Tell a parent, a teacher, an older brother or sister maybe.

If you talk to a teacher about bullying we won’t do anything that you are not happy with. We won’t just tell the other child off, or talk to them in front of the whole class. We won’t do anything that will make things worse.

Where else can I get help?

There are many good sources of information on the internet. These two are particulalry worth a look.
