STATEMENT OF THE SCHOOL ETHOS AND INTENT

Staveley Church of England Voluntary Controlled School aims to provide the best possible education and opportunities for all pupils.

It seeks to do this by:

1.    Fostering the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of the pupils within a disciplined and ordered working environment and a setting which is secure and caring, while setting high expectations of attainment and behaviour.

2.    Creating a positive, happy family atmosphere, in which all pupils can thrive both as individuals and members of a community, are eager and take pride in their achievements, and in which pupils, staff and Governors work together with mutual respect, courtesy and consideration for others.

3.    Following a curriculum which engenders a love of learning and the excitement of discovery, and which develops the academic potential of the pupils and prepares them for the opportunities, responsibilities and experience of adult life, while being broad enough to meet and respond to their differing needs.

4. Seeking to develop and maintain a close partnership between pupils, parents, staff and governors, and purposeful relationships with neighbouring schools and other educational agencies, the local church and the local community.

The school, mindful of the values of its foundation, endeavours to cultivate respect for the spiritual and moral beliefs of the Christian tradition and to create a community in which pupils, cared for as individuals, are helped to find fulfilment regardless of race, colour, creed or sex, as they grow towards adulthood.
