We've no sooner finished complaining about the wet weather than it's time to start worrying about the sun. The risks of sun burn are very high in the term before the summer holidays, and are ofter much higher than during the holidays themselves. Please ensure that your child arrives at school appropriately dressed for sun protection and with sun block applied when needed. Hats and long sleeves are always recommended and it is often worth looking at the UV protetction factor of the fabrics from which clothes are made.
Please apply sun block at home; it is virtually impossible to ensure that every child applies their own cream and logistically impossible to apply it for all of them in the time available.
Good solution
Many parents have begun to use a once only sunblock applying it in the morning before school. One favourite seems to be the Boots Soltan Once however the other favourite is P20 - this is avaible from our local pharmacy.
Why not call in and talk to Anothai about the best ways to protect your child's skin? They also stock roll on varieties such as Sun Sense Ultra Roll On and Ambre Solaire Stick. Both are spf 50+. Their websites are : www.sunsense.co.uk and www.garnier.co.uk
Support your local pharmacy and our school: Anothai has offered to make a donation to school funds for every sun block product purchased if you mention having seen the information on the website.
A word of warning is never to rely entirely on sun block, the golden rules are to cover up and not to spend too long out in the direct sun.
The following links give more information about the hazards and tips for protection. Mostly obvious stuff but worth a look anyway.

LUNCHTIMES We generally allow children to eat their packed lunches outside in the warmer weather. However when it is very hot we will eat in the school hall to reduce the time children spend in the direct sun. |
