Class Trips |
Scroll down to see photographs and information on the class trips we have been on this year.
Last week Class 3 went on a trip to Tullie House in Carlisle. We went to visit their Secret Egypt exhibition they have got on in the gallery at the moment. While we were there we also did a Life and Death workshop where we got to do lots of different activities. Our favourite one was the mummification section. We had to prepare Tutantullie for the next life by taking out his brain and internal organs and then wrapping his body in bandages. For some reason the children really enjoyed doing that!
Last week Year Three went to Birdoswald Roman Fort for their residential visit. We had a great time and really enjoyed all the activities. We went on a guided tour, met Maximus the Roman Soldier, made helmets and mosaics and went on a walk to Willowford.
Below is a slideshow of pictures showing some of the activities we did.
On Tuesday (5th July) we went on a trip to Loughrigg. We used an identification sheet to work out what the different trees were from their leaves, we hugged trees blindfolded and found some treasure - Kendal Mint Cake! We also went pond dipping and went to the Mountain rescue base where we met Kit, a search dog and found out about what the rescue team do. But most importantly of all we made it to the SUMMIT!
Speke Hall - March 2011
On Tuesday 29th March Class 3 went to visit Speke Hall near Liverpool.
We had a tour of the hall and the gardens and then during the afternoon we made a pomander and looked at artefacts.
Lucy and Alfie were dressed up as Tudor children. We had a lovely day and would recommend a visit!
Birdoswald October 2009
On Thursday 8th October Class 3 went to Birdoswald Roman Fort. We stayed in a farmhouse and got to share rooms which had bunkbeds. We had a guided tour of the visitor centre and fort, Jo told us all about the Romans. After that we made necklaces and crowns and Kate and Alexander got to dress up as Romans wearing togas.
For dinner we had pizza, salad and chips and for pudding apple crumble and ice cream. It was yummy!!!!
Later on a Roman soldier called Maximus trained us to be Roman soldiers. As part of our training we wore a helmet and held a shield and sword. We learnt how to scare the other soldiers away - and the teachers!!
The following day we had a breakfast of sausages, beans, toast and cereal. Cameron ate 6 sausages! It was Declan's birthday so we sang Happy Birthday. Then we went on a long walk to Willowford.
"It was the best trip ever!" (Lewis)

We got to hear the church bells. |
We got to sit in the pews. |
Thank you to Mr Watson for showing us round. We had a great afternoon and learnt a lot. |
| Gamelan Worshop at the Brewery Arts Centre |
Class 3 went to the Brewery Arts Centre for a Gamelan workshop. A Gamelan is a group of instruments from Indonesia. Cath introduced the different instruments to us. |
Kevin told us a story about a Mouse Deer and some crocodiles. |
Helen showed us how to use our hands to make shadow puppets behind the screen |
We all had a go on the Gamelan and made up our own movement piece to go with the story. We then put it all together and performed it in front of some staff from the Brewery Arts Centre. We had a great time. |

Evacuation to Kendal |
This week Class 3 were evacuated to Kendal -
but only for the day so they could visit the Archives and look at actual documents from the war.
Here we are waiting at the station. As you can see we are very sad to be leaving our families behind! |
Before our evacuation we had made our labels and gas mask boxes. |
Here we are at Kendal station. |
Margaret is an archivist and she showed us lots of documents from World War 2. |
Here she is showing us pictures of some German and Italian soldiers who were captured and taken to a Prisoner of War camp in Shap. |
War is over! On our way back to the station. We have had a great time! |
